I've always hated public speaking, and probably still do... just less than I did before. I remember how I was sitting in my Adviser's office, waiting for her to help me put my schedule for the Spring semester 2012 together. The moment she told me that I should take the speech class, I told her no. The thought of having to speak in public scared me and I told her I was not ready for it. She told me that I really had no option, because I need it in order to graduate. I died a little bit on the inside. I told her that I would take it in my second year and she was fine with it.
This class turned out to be better than I thought it would be. I was still nervous while giving my speeches, however I could tell that I became more confident with each speech. The reflective journals were challenging at times, but I enjoyed writing them. Professor Magabo was incredibly nice and she made the class enjoyable - although it was a struggle in the beginning of the semester. All in all, I think speech has helped me to somewhat overcome my fear of public speaking and I am thankful for that, because I know that this class will not be the last time where I will have to deliver a speech in front of people.
